Mar. 12th, 2019 11:54 pmCreature & animal prompts, rating Not rated, General or Teen:
Alien Who Thinks That Cats Are the Species to Contact When You Visit Earth
Dragon Who Finds Humans Fascinating
Grizzled Soldier Who Keeps Adopting Abandoned Kittens
Original Fox Spirit
Stressed but trying his Best Eldritch Monstrosity pretending to be a good human father
Feline Goddess Disguised As Human & Box Of Kittens She Finds In An Alley
I like funny or serious takes on these creatures. Write whatever story you want with one or more of the tags.
Optional prompts:
Alien & Cats The alien learns how to communicate with cats, and helps the cats accomplish something they can't do on their own. The alien may end up being adopted by a cat and taking it back to the home planet.
Soldier & kittens, feline goddess & kittens The soldier (or the feline goddess) finds a new home due to the kittens' influence. Either by meeting someone who can help and bonding over shared care for the kittens, or by the kittens taking it upon themselves to do some fixing.
Eldritch Monstrosity The eldritch monstrosity adopts human children the way the soldier and/or the feline goddess adopt kittens. The human children are even more trouble than kittens would be, and also lovable in a similar way. They can also help out (perhaps on purpose, perhaps unwittingly).
Fox SpiritThe fox spirit needs to find an object to regain something lost. The object is not available after much searching, but something lost is still, after all, found.
DragonThe dragon figures out what makes humans so fascinating, and then finds a human who is especially fascinating.
DNW: any cats in physical pain or dying in the story (they can have died before the story begins if they are a ghost or spirit, and presumably they will die someday after the story ends, but don't include it onscreen or make it almost happen or anything, and it's fine if a cat is sick and lethargic, or very hungry, or anxious and upset because of being abandoned or in a box or missing its mother or that sort of thing.)
Character and relationship prompts - rating Not Rated, General or Teen.
Loyal Butler who secretly practices black magic
Magicshop Clerk Tired of Dealing with People Who Don't Read the Warning Labels on Potions
Confused Gardener/God or Elemental Who Is Flirting By Making Their Garden Grow Like Crazy
Eccentric But Quiet Agoraphobic Genius Inventor/Ruthlessly Cheerful Personal Chef
Female programmer who does hacking in her spare time/female secret agent she nearly gets killed
Frazzled Single Parent/A Demigod (Whose Dad Is The God Of Sleep)
Male Employee of a Struggling Arcade/Autistic Guy Who Comes in Every Day to play Pinball
nonbinary partner 1/nonbinary partner 2 trying to figure out how to propose to each other
When gender is not specified in the tag, any gender(s) in any combination are fine for these characters/relationships. (I mean that, I like all gender combinations equally pretty much, I've got them all in my works & favorites; write what you like or what jumps out at you; if you want me to pick just so you don't have to, ask a mod to message me)
DNW: any archive warning (please make "no archive warnings apply" to this story)
Optional prompts:
Butler The butler is working for an employer/employers who attracts some sort of negative attention from either monsters trying to kill them, evil spirits trying to possess them, gangsters, vampires, spies, something - some force that's after them and the black magic is used to protect them. There could be a romantic relationship with the butler and employer, or the employer could be someone who the butler views as family who grew up with them, a foster daughter or son, or a foster daughter/son and and their spouse and kids, however it works best for your story.
Magicshop Clerk The magic shop clerk story maybe is episodic with various people coming in with complaints about potions that didn't work correctly - because they didn't follow instructions. Some humor could come from how complicated and over-written the instructions are: there's a reason no one reads them! it's a 30 point list of times of day/ days of the year/ plus eight pages of warnings and side effects?
Gardener/deity I can imagine the spirit really enjoys how the gardener takes such good care of plants. It could be a dryad, or a water spirit, or a nature deity - growing vine tendrils around the gardener's legs, making flowers bloom as they pass, all kinds of cute things. Maybe the garden has a problem - being repossessed because the gardener can't pay their mortgage? a rabbit invasion? or maybe there's another love interest for the gardener and there's some weird love triangle action?
Inventor/Chef The inventor is inventing something hush-hush and is stuck on some part of the invention trying to figure it out, and the solution is new foods to stimulate their imagination, or maybe a trip to the farmer's market - horrors, it's outdoors, but it gives them that suggestion that helps them fix that problem - and maybe opportunities for flirting? Shippiness can be one sided or mutual or can be an existing relationship or one just getting started.
The secret agent nearly gets killed because the programmer hacked the people she's spying on and put them on edge, so they got almost paranoid enough to crack her cover. But she made it out in time and goes to track down the person who wrecked her op, only to be charmed.... or, alternatively, flip it around and have the spy be the one to nearly get the programmer killed, in a typical spy sort of way - involving her as an informant, or mistaking her for a target perhaps?
The frazzled single parent is really in need of some respite care, and also some romance. Both come in the same package of a miracle-working babysitter/nanny type person who gets the kid sleeping at night and uh oh, Dad doesn't think the frazzled parent is good enough for his child - the kid's sleep is back in jeopardy.
The struggling arcade was the owner's dream but it's just a place for the employee to work. The pinball player started out barely able to hit the ball with the flippers, just randomly flailing them, but by a couple of months later he's playing for half an hour on a dollar's worth of tokens, and the owner is getting frustrated - other patrons stop to watch him play sometimes. Teenagers maybe are picking on him and the employee warns them off, and they start talking? It might take some doing to find a topic other than pinball the autistic guy wants to discuss, but there's something they have in common that isn't pinball, and it's the start of a beautiful -- some kind of relationship, anyway.
So one of the nonbinary couple wants to do some kind of super ornate proposal, like I don't even know, take them to a pro ball game and have it announced, or throw a surprise party with a cake with a ring in it? the other one just somehow avoids the situations and can't figure out why their partner is so stressing, but has got a ring and is dying to ask them, just you know, conversationally, but they're so stressed looking it's never the right time somehow.
Any rating prompts (Not Rated, General, Teen, Mature, Explicit):
Ancient Immortal Who Is Not Interested in History at All and Has Missed All the Major Events
Asshole Sidhe Fae Space Explorer
Tired Jaded Double Agent Male Alien
Archmage/Evil Wizard whom He Keeps under Charm until He eventually Wins over his Genuine Loyalty
Aspiring Actress Who Conned Her Way Into A Dinner Party Of Famous Notables/Extremely Bored Guest
demon/human willingly possessed by demon/person crushing on human unknowing of the demon in them
Eldritch Abomination/Paranormal Investigator in Over his Head
Female psychic detective/trickster goddess who helps her solve crimes
Lesbian Dairy Farmer And Award-Winning Piemaker/Her Chief Competitor At The State Fair
Lonely Librarian/Sentient Book
When gender is not specified in the tag, any gender(s) in any combination are fine for these characters/relationships.
The ancient immortal is instead interested in something that history ignores, at least mostly: a foodie maybe, or a music buff, or how people dance in different eras, or they somewhat obsessively collect different types of eating utensils. In general a research-y story -- or invent a history for a secondary world if you prefer.
Explore the conceit where Sidhe were the 'ancient astronauts' and pointy eared aliens actually were pointy eared elves. This one went on a really long trip at relativistic speeds, and returns to find Earth quite different (modern or near future)!
As an alien, he infiltrated human society to figure it out for the alien conquerors, but he somehow decided he would rather keep humans as they are, so he secretly works against his alien masters. That initial impulse to save us he probably has regretted a few times, but he still tries. Though it's not going well lately...
The evil wizard did a spell where if he was killed, he'd return in a stronger form. So the archmage had to take him captive. The only way to neutralize the existential threat of this evil wizard is to somehow turn him - if not to good, exactly, at least to allyship with the archmage. Also there's a lot of UST between them, I suspect.
person with a crush really wonders what is up with their crush, who it seems like is going through something serious, but won't talk about it. they have to know! they stalk. The demon wants them to either make the stalker go away, or better yet, have fun with them and scare them off. The possessed person has both a eek creepy stalker feeling and also a somewhat suppressed ooh, someone who really wants me, how attractive feeling, which is the personality quirk that led them to want to be possessed in the first place by a demon, huh?
Librarian/Book: Alone at the library, the book starts talking to the librarian. They become close. The book is better than a person, right? This could be sweet or spooky, or both, if you go along a route like that. Or if you don't want to be so serious, it could also be funny and explicit, especially if it turns out the sentient book is a sex guide or erotica?
DNW: Underage humans (or humanoid aliens who would be played by a human with little to no CGI in a movie/tv show) having sex, nonconsensual sex between human or human-like characters (what Eldritch Abominations or Sentient Books do is up to you).
